Studio Bouroullec at Tel Aviv Museum of Art: 17 Screens

Studio Bouroullec is presenting 17 Screens at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the result of a research on materials and production (until end of March 2016).

The show incorporates interweaving sequences of modular elements made of ceramics, aluminium, glass, wooden branches and textile, held together by custom made connections and hanging systems.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec: 17 Screens

October 3, 2015- March 26, 2016

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec / SERIF / SAMSUNG 2015

Serif is a collection of screens, televisions, we designed for Samsung during the past two years. Serif is a television that moves away from a preoccupation with ultra-flat screens. Instead, it is an object that can be turned around and manipulated. It can stand anywhere, even on the floor with its own legs. What we were looking for was a solid presence that would sit naturally in various environments, just like an object or a piece of furniture. In profile, it forms a clear capital “I” shape, its slim body broadening to form a surface like a little shelf at the top. We also designed the interface inside Serif. Serif comes in 3 sizes, Serif, Serif Medium, and Serif Mini. Serif and Serif Medium come with optional feet (that are included in the box). 3 colors are proposed, White, Dark blue and Red.

Krona o Stjãrna have long been inspired by all things coming from the world of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the preeminent fraternal design team that has produced the iconic Joyn system and Slow chair for Vitra, the Clouds Divina system for Danish design company Kvadrat as well as may other elegant and poetic products, furniture and environments.  This time around, they have designed a multi-scale television system that carries the same serene aesthetic and ethos that Studio Bouroullec has become famous for.

Elegant furniture form factor for a television.

The Bouroullecs wanted to move away from the perceivably increased obsession with the ultra-thin 'black screen' form factor in favor of a more integrated device that would live as furniture in your home.  The "I" section of the screen's bezel acts as a small 'shelf' and the television comes with four optional legs to use as a freestanding unit, to be viewed where the user sees fit.

Multiple scales available.

SERIF will be pre-launched during the London Design Festival (21-27 September).

You can visit the exhibit Bouroullec X Samsung at the The River Rooms in the Somerset House (Strand Entrance, London WC2R1LA).

Available in stores from 2nd November 2015.
